“Yoga teaches us to cure what needs not be endured and endure what cannot be cured”
-B.K.S. Iyengar
Most begin yoga because they are seeking a way of building strength or increasing flexibility. Some see yoga simply as a means of physical exercise. Some are seeking head space… all are valid reasons to explore what yoga has to offer.
I soon realised that “post yoga high” was something I wanted more of! I totally believe our own journey with the practice can look & feel various ways. There have been previously months, even years, without a considerably consistent practice. What I learnt during that time was the importance of sitting with yourself, the battles of meditation being as sweet of a surrender as a punchy physical practice – which is where I would naturally go to seek head space.
Through the practice of yoga we are able to shift our perspective towards “letting go” of what no longer serves us
What I can offer you…
Like a lot of people, yoga came to me at a time where my body was very far from connected to my mind. It helped me learn to appreciate my body.
The asana practice that yoga presents to the student can amaze, challenge and humble. We can be astonished by what the body can do on a physical level. My experience goes beyond the physical practice – it allows me to recognise the relationship I may have with myself. My teaching aims to present this guidance to the practitioner.
YOGA (in all it’s many facets) provides access to “self”.
Style of teaching
My style of teaching is a combination of functional movement and explorative transitions. I hold a keen focus on presenting a heart-led practice that is sustainable; aiming to create a place where students feel inspired and empowered and that they leave the class feeling uplifted and energised. Classes of mine involve descriptive alignment cues as well as considered theming to honour the rooted philosophy of yoga, within a modern lens. With a personal interest in pranayama techniques and meridian lines, you’ll notice the benefits of these multi-layered teachings; I lead from a place of personal experience and truth always…My intention is simple: the practice is here to untie what might be bound; free the chatters of the mind to be faced with a nurturing practice that highlights acceptance and space. “How beautiful to be here right now…” I welcome you to practice with me however you arrive that day.
